How katakana practice works

Practice all 46 basic katakana, dakuten and handakuten sounds, and yōon combinations. Choose Standard, Time Attack, Multiple Choice, or Sudden Death and set each round to 10, 20, 50, 100, or all selected characters.

What should beginners practice first?

Start with the basic vowel and consonant rows. Add dakuten after the basic forms feel familiar, then finish with yōon combinations such as キャ, シュ, and チョ. Compare similar forms such as シ and ツ or ソ and ン by noticing the direction of their short strokes.
